Half Day Care
It all starts with consistency
HDO MAJEST
HDO Majest is the Dutch acronym for Hele Dagopvang Majest. HDO Majest offers half and full-day care for children aged 1.5 to 4 years. It is also possible to choose childcare in the morning or in the afternoon. You can apply for childcare allowance or if you are not entitled to it, you can receive a subsidy from the municipality of Amstelveen. The most important conditions for the subsidy are listed below.
HDO is an excellent preparation for children at school. To optimise the preparation per child, we offer the educational programme Kansen in Kinderen (KIKI). In this programme, children are playfully stimulated to develop in the areas of numeracy, language and social-emotional skills. We see the time that the children spend with us as free time (read more about the KIKI programme below).
The children are therefore given the space to play the games they like on their own initiative. There is time for singing, playing, handicrafts and outdoor activities. In addition, we have a fixed structure, such as eating and playing at fixed times and the group leaders have fixed working hours, in order to offer stability and structure to your child. We, therefore, recommend that you bring your child to HDO for at least two days a week in order to provide more structure.
Activities
The activities we offer is majorly aimed at relaxation, cosiness and at stimulating the individual capabilities of your child. We therefore take into account the needs and interesses of your child. Furthermore, all activities are based on the age of your child and eventually, your child will determine if he or she wants to participate or not.

KIKI
Kansen in Kinderen (KIKI) is a development incentive program specifically for children from 0 to 4 years old. It is a versatile educational program consisting of 40 themes that can be used flexibly for all children. The themes are focused on the motor development, social and emotional development, speech and language development, and budding numeracy. By applying the wide variety of options within this program, the children are well prepared for primary school.
Nutrition
At day care Majest we consider health as very important. We stimulate this by many outside activities and also by our healthy food-program. We give the children fruit and/or crackers at 10:00 and 17:00 hours. At 11:30 we give the children lunch. The children will be singing and telling all kind of stories to each other in a very friendly atmosphere. This is how the children learn their social skills and get to appreciate the value of eating together.
Childcare without childcare allowance (kinderopvangtoeslag)
The municipality of Amstelveen subsidizes a number of places at Majest for children between 2.5 and 4 years old.The Amstelveen municipality pays part of the cost of childcare if you are not entitled to childcare allowance and do not have a VVE indication. The subsidy is granted for two half-days on two days a week. At Majest you can choose a package of;
- 4 hours a day for 40 weeks a year, or
- 5 hours per day for 44 weeks per year.
Toddlers with VVE indication
The HDO toddler groups consist of a combination of children with and without a VVE indication. For the VVE programme, you can choose from a package of;
- three half-day sessions on three different days per week of 5 hours per half-day session for 44 weeks per year, or
- four half-day sessions on four different days per week of 4 hours per morning for 40 weeks per year.
In addition to the regular programme, children with a VVE indication are offered extra educational activities (tailored to age level) in the area of language and numeracy stimuli.
Children with a VVE indication from the GGD are given priority on the waiting list for toddler care.
PeuterPlusPlan
We make use of PeuterPlusPlan (PPP). PPP is a child monitoring system that offers tools to stimulate and document children's development. This is done mainly by observing the children during meaningful play and work moments.
